Here are a few more of the collected Bat-goods I've gathered, fun stuff!

I'm sure I had the Ideal superhero figures but my best remembered figure is the Wilton cake topper figure at left. My grandmother and Mom both baked cakes for weddings so the Wilton catalog with all its funny little characters was always in the house and great fun to page through. They called him 'Catman' in the catalog but he's the exact same figure as the Ideal- removeable cape and all -but bigger! And therefore better! And he came with three plastic bats so the name change didn't fool me at all!
The painting was usually rather haphazard even when they were new and when you find them today it's often badly worn away, I re-painted this one. And I haven't found a cape yet for the Ideal figure...

There's nothing that says 'retro' like Vari-Vue! The flickering image was virtually hypnotic to an impressionable young mind, the rings were the greatest but these little squares came attached to keychains, pretty cool too. This is a repro backing card with the plastic squares framed under glass

I think these embroidered pictures were sold through the Sears catalog. I can't tell you how many times I traced over these while learning to draw Batman. Not an 'action toy' but super-Bat-cool nonetheless.

Again a real nice selection of classic 1960s BATMAN pieces. All I have are the two embroidered pictures. The small figures are ace mate and a real close look shows how nice they can look painted. So many of those old figures like say the Gilbert james Bond ones could look amazing but were just randomly 'daubed' with paint leading to a poor finish which is a shame as the sculpts are really quite good.

Every so often I make some time to tend to the collection- a figure posed, a repair on an accessory, feather dusting a shelf or two -this week I was re-painting the Husky Batmobile and another timeworn Wilton cake topper figure:

This one never fails to bring a smile to my face. I had maybe three or four of these over the years as a kid. However any model maker between the gaes of around 4 and 10 will never do anything more than a pretty horrible job. That's exactly how I mine were. This one however is lovely. I have seen some which for me go to far towards realsim and for my eye I like to see clean comic book colours with an almost action figure look to it and that is exactly what you have achieved here. The tree though is very authentic and that is OK on that in my opinion. Truly amazing kit that you have done fantatsic with!

Thanks. Its cool you notice the difference. Usually, most just mention Batman. Originally, I was going to do the realistic approach. Then at some site I saw the Superman kit done in very clean comic book look. The I decided to switch tracks. I too have had many variation of these kits. I've done different variation on Batman as well...Revell's recent as a black/grey, Monogram's as a total redo as Animated Batman...I still regret selling it...I really busted my hump on it. I think I still have pictures of it. If I do I'll post it.

Here is a little something from England 1966. Obviously not TV Batman but inspired by the popularity of it. I had this as a kid and lost almost all the bits. A few months back a pal nabbed one from a second hand store for no more than 5 bucks! Between the one in the store and my old one I put together a decent and complete set.
